Take a close look at the 2 pictures. Could you infer anything significant?

I got both these pictures from Megala a monthly novel (published now?); The issue dates back to May 1993! The first image is from a jewelers in Madurai claiming to give 21% interest in fixed deposit & the second one is for PooMaalai - that's how the Media giant Sun TV started!

Think of the 21% interest in FD - A whooping 5 times increase of todays 4.5 % of banks! Man, will you even think of any insurance or any stock options if you are offered this! Hmm. Good Old days!

The 2nd picture kindles some interest.
Sun TV, in 1993 started as Video Magazine - PooMaalai!. In those days where TV meant DD, anything other than DD is special. These guys (Kalanidhi Maran & his friends) recorded a video cassette of 90 minutes & circulated to Video libraries & that was an instant hit. In their own wordsBut they couldn't make big money! As this cassette got replicated & circulated!

But this was the basis for their Sun TV! Now could anyone think South India sans SunTV!
